Swimmer's Only Savior

Ok so what are the odds of thunder and lightning storms in California? Lets say its little, ok? Ok. So this weekend I was at another glorious swim meet, what a surprise. And as many of you may have noticed, there was thunder and lightning on Sunday afternoon. What you may not be aware of is that a swimmer's only savior is lightning. So when we first heard the glorious thunder, we were overjoyed; but that was before we realized it wasn't close enough to get the meet cancelled. So the meet kept going, even though it was freezing and lightning was clearly around us. Eventually there was a strike so close that they got everyone out of the pool immediately. They made an announcement, "We are going to delay the meet for 30 minutes, and if there is another strike of lightning the meet will be cancelled." So we are rejoicing because there has been so much all day. What do you know, that was the last of the lightning for the day, of course! So we just sat in the rain for an extra 30 minutes just to wait for our race. Nearly every one of the other teams left, because our coach is psychotic. But it was all good, because overall, it was a really fun meet.
